As Mike Brown is laid to rest today one stage of the Ferguson saga comes to an end. By now almost all of the world knows the story of Mike Brown’s shooting by a Ferguson Police Officer named Darren Wilson. For those who aren’t that familiar with the incident Marley Brooker weighs in with his two cents from a unique perspective.
AUR?: Whats up Marley, we know you’ve kept up with this Ferguson incident from day 1 and been vocal on your social media account would you like to weigh in on anything for those who may not follow you on twitter?
MCB: Thank you for the platform. I love this blog. I’ve said so much I’m all talked and tweeted out. I know people may be getting “tired” of this Ferguson/Mike Brown situation. But I’d like to speak up as this whole thing shifts into the next phase. Via my music. My mouth gets me in trouble (laughs).
AUR?: Is this why you chose to release something on the manner today?
MCB: Well… today the young brother was laid to rest, RIP Mike, and it’s also Monday, a day I coined #MarleyMondays, which I often release new music on. I wrote the first verse 5 or 6 days ago when they had just raised about 200k for the Cop. Monday proved to be a fitting date.
MCB: I’m not gonna say too much more on Ferguson, which happens to be my last name, but for those of you interested in my insight just check my twitter out (twitter.com/MarleyBrooker) and review my tweets I RT a lot of really dope things from people who were on the ground in Ferguson like Shaun King (twitter.com/ShaunKing) and Antonio French (twitter.com/AntonioFrench). I also live streamed I am Mike Brown & Vice News’ feeds (twitter.com/vicenews) .
AUR?: We follow you on twitter and you kept us very in the loop. What about the record? Don’t Play? You touched on some controversial things, care to elaborate?
MCB: Honestly I’d love to… but everything I’d tell you now I included in the 2 verses I put on Travi$ Scott’s instrumental. Shoutout to Travi$ Scott make sure y’all check for his new album, Days Before Rodeo, it’s fire. I also went ahead and annotated a significant amount of the important lyrics on Rap Genius in particular my views on Sgt. Maj. Dan Page and his highly volatile speech to the St. Louis Oath Keepers which got him “fired” from Ferguson Police, some of CNN’s questionable reporting and the chances I think Mike Brown have of getting justice. So just listen AND read!
AUR?: Will do! In this case reading may even be more beneficial. I have the Rap Genius app on my iPhone so I will check it out. Thanks for the time!
MCB: No thank you guys! The pleasure is always mine. Anytime you call, you know I’ll answer Ms. Hammond.
AUR?: Lol. Of course!
